Hydroponic Innovation in Action at Luxemburg-Casco High School
At Fork Farms, we’re always inspired by the incredible ways schools bring learning to life through hands-on innovation, and the Luxemburg-Casco School District in Wisconsin is doing just that. Recently, we had the pleasure of visiting Luxemburg-Casco High School, where students are growing fresh food year-round using four Flex Farms inside their greenhouse.
During our visit, we joined @wfrvlocal5 to see firsthand how the district is integrating hydroponics into both the classroom and the cafeteria. Agriculture students at Luxemburg-Casco are not only learning how to grow crops, they’re managing a sustainable food system from seed to plate.
Under the leadership of Agriculture teacher Justine Selk, students can apply for a unique apprenticeship program focused on hydroponic farm management. Through this program, students earn both class credit and a paycheck while growing fresh greens for the school’s lunch program. It’s a real-world experience that blends science, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.
The energy inside the greenhouse was contagious. From students proudly explaining their growing techniques to teachers sharing how hydroponics deepens engagement across subjects, it’s clear that Flex Farms are helping cultivate more than crops, they’re growing future-ready leaders.
We’re so proud to partner with Luxemburg-Casco School District and can’t wait to see what their students will grow next!
