Uncovering Germinated Microgreens (Part 3 of 4)
Part 3 of 4: A guide on growing microgreens in your Flex Micro
Uncovering Your Microgreens and Introducing Light
- Inspect your microgreen trays each day for progress. Once over 90% of the seeds have sprouted and reached about 0.5 to 1 cm in height, it’s time to remove the Standard Nursery Tray. This stage is usually reached between days 2 and 7, depending on the microgreen variety.
- You can now turn on the LED lights, or if you’d like your microgreens to grow taller, keep the lights off until they reach about 2 cm in height.
During germination, microgreen seeds thrive in darkness and do not require light. Keeping the tray covered helps maintain consistent humidity, preventing the seeds from drying out and supporting strong, even sprouting. Introducing light earlier in the process encourages shorter, more compact microgreens, while waiting a little longer results in taller growth. You can adjust the timing based on your preference for microgreen height—feel free to experiment and discover what works best for your needs!
- Continue to follow the grow guide’s best practices to maintain optimal water, nutrient, and pH levels. Careful monitoring and adjusting will support a faster, healthier harvest.
We highly recommend virtually planning and tracking your microgreens in the Flex Micro with the Flex Micro Virtual Manager Tool!
