Setting your Doors & Panel Plugs for the Next Crop (Part 3 of 3)
Part 3 of 3: How to move your Flex Acre doors in or out and open only the plant spaces this crop needs
After Cleaning your Tank Lid & Clearing the Floor (Part 2 of 3), you can begin setting your wall for the crop coming in. A change in crop height is what calls for a door adjustment, as each door carries 10 Light Bars and where a door closes is where your lights sit over your plants.
Gather Tools:
- Ladder
- Panel Plugs
- Grower's Tool Kit
Step 1: Adjust a Door Inward
Move a door in toward your plants to bring its 10 Light Bars closer to your canopy.
Adjust your doors using the magnet hardware as it was supplied, as modification of a supplied part voids your warranty.
Step 2: Adjust a Door Outward
Move a door out away from your plants to set its 10 Light Bars further off your canopy.
Your Flex Acre carries 40 Light Bars, 10 on each of your 4 doors, so every door you move takes 10 of them with it. Set the doors you plan to move now, between crops, rather than changing the light distance on a crop that has already started.
Step 3: Open your Flex Acre
- Confirm your Primary Pump is unplugged.
- Open the two doors on the side you are starting from.
- Position your ladder at one end of the Flex Acre.
Your Flex Acre carries 4 doors, 2 on each side, and you work one side at a time. Your Panel Plugs sit on the wall behind those doors, so the doors come open before the ladder goes up.
Step 4: Set your Panel Plugs
- Confirm the planting structure for the upcoming crop before you touch the wall.
- Pull the Panel Plug out of each plant space this crop will fill.
- Leave a Panel Plug in every plant space that stays empty.
- Move the ladder along the wall.
- Repeat until the whole side matches your plan.
- Repeat on the other side of the Flex Acre.
- Keep your spare Panel Plugs together, as your structure changes with every crop.
CAUTION: LEAVE A PANEL PLUG IN EVERY PLANT SPACE YOU ARE NOT PLANTING. WATER CAN SPRAY OUT OF AN OPEN PLANT SPACE AND REACH YOUR LIGHT BARS.
Your Panel Plugs stop water escaping through unoccupied plant spaces while your Flex Acre is running. Water contact with your light system voids your warranty, and your GFCI Adapters are built to trip if the lights are directly exposed to water. Set your Panel Plugs now, while your Root Chambers are empty, rather than on transplant day with a tray in your hands at the top of a ladder. Your wall carries 128 Panels and 1,152 plant spaces, and every one of them is easier to reach before the crop goes in.
Your doors are set and your wall is open only where the next crop goes—well done! Continue to Preparing your Flex Acre for Transplant Day (Part 4 of 6) for next steps.
